Help Us Help Our Troops

From now until Sunday, May 25^th the Board of Evangelism is spearheading a collection drive for much needed necessities for our troops. How can you help? Glad you asked! We have boxes in the church narthex and the school hallway for your donations. No need to sort, no need to wrap. Just drop them off. The Operation Support Our Troops, Illinois, Inc. will sort and pack the items and arrange for shipping.

These are the Top Ten items needed:

1. Crackers (Standard 16 oz. box, Ritz, Club, Triscits or Graham Crackers) to put Peanut Butter or Tuna on - Critical
2. Bags of Beef Jerky (Troops love this!)
3. Cold drink mix packets for bottled water (such as Crystal Lite To Go), powered Gatorade and Propel
4. Crew Socks (men's size 10 to 13, without sewn on logo, white or black)
5. Foot powder (20 oz or less)
6. Men's body wash (16 oz or less, no bars of soap please)
7. Mouse Traps, Fly Ribbons and Fly Swatters (short handles work best)
8. Bug repellant (no aerosol)
9. Sunscreen
10. Medical bag items
11. • Eye drops
    • Saline nasal spray
    • Large Band-Aids
    • Anti itch cream (2 oz. or less)
    • Antibiotic ointment (e.g. Neosporin)
    • Antacid relief tablets (e.g. of Tums)
    • Vitamins (multi or C,200 count or less)
    • Over the counter allergy/cold/flu medicine (capsule and tablet form mails the best)
    • Muscle rub (such as Ben Gay) "Hot Hands"
    • Pain relievers (Advil, Tylenol, Motrin)
    • Heat wraps (i.e. Thermacare Lowback Heat Wrap)

Letters to the troops are also welcome. Please use the generic greeting of "Dear Military Person" in the letters; do not seal the envelopes. No postage is required. If you would like the recipient to possibly write back, include your name and address or e-mail address.
